Mofaz tells IDF commanders to show 'no pity' at roadblocks

Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz on Tuesday instructed Israel Defense
Forces commanders in the West Bank to carry out thorough checks of
Israeli and Palestinian vehicles crossing through roadblocks.

"Show no pity for anyone, even if it causes traffic holdups and
anger," Mofaz told the commanders during a tour of the West Bank.
"The security of citizens is paramount to everything else."

Mofaz also said he believed the grounds for the fight against terror
will shift to the West Bank following the disengagement from the
Gaza([search]) Strip.

He added that he will soon meet with Justice Minister Tzipi Livni on
new regulations to counter illegal entry of Palestinians into

Referring to violence against Palestinians and IDF forces by
settlers, Mofaz spoke of "zero tolerance" toward disturbances. He
said, nevertheless, that new channels for talks with settlers should
be found.
