Grassroots America Newsletter, May 24 Hop, Bike and Call in Day: Poems

Bus, Bike or Call in to demand your representatives come out into the light of day and stop buying Bush's War.

In response to the American people asking for us to get out of Iraq, the leadership is caving into Bush's demands and giving him $95 Billion without timelines. It is time we make our demands to congress!

On May 24, Thursday, we ask everyone to join in the Swarm on Congress.
11:30 AM

We will be leaving Union Station (in DC) on the Yellow Rose of Texas Bus and ask everyone to join us. If you have a bike, bring it, if you don't, hop on the bus as we ride around the Capitol and ask congressional leadership to come out into the light of day and explain why they are giving Bush a $95 billion dollars to continue the occupation of Iraq.

11:40 AM
Col. Ann Wright will deliver a message to the Injustice Department.

11:50 AM
At the Peace Memorial, in the shadow of capitol, Rev. Yearwood will deliver words to focus our mission.

12:00 Noon (Time to Call)
On Independence Ave. Marine Mom Tina Richards will demand House leadership to come out into the light of day and meet with us.

We will need everyone to call house leadership and demand they fulfill the mandate the American people delivered November 7th, 2006 and to come out and meet with us.

12:15
On Constitution Ave. we have invited Sen Leahy and Sen. Feingold to join us in calling an end to the occupation.

We will need everyone to call Senate leaders and demand they fulfill the mandate the American people delivered November 7th, 2006 and to come out and meet with us.

US Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

This is your chance to join in the Swarm on Congress no matter where you are. So bring your lunch to work and help with the Summer of Action.

================================
May 14th through July 31st, Grassroots America has organized a Summer of Action.

It is time we stop business as usual in Washington, D.C. and demand that legislation be passed that ends this war, brings home all the troops and takes care of them when they return.
We will be a visible peace presence in the halls of congress, meeting with members of congress, attending hearings, conducting protests, sit-ins and media events, all to throw sand in the gears of government until real legislation is passed that ends this war. Plan to come for a few days or a few weeks - - we promise an effective, productive, energizing and fun experience! Learn, work and experience your own power. Before another season passes with more senseless loss of life, freedom and opportunity, come for the Summer of Action. Let it not be said that each of us didn't do everything possible to end this madness.

Actions include
visits to congress, Sit-ins, Organizing, Media Events and Workshops
All to throw sand into the gears of government.
