Anti-Bush Protest in Clayton 6/28

Insteadofwar.org has coverage of the anti-Bush protest that occurred in Clayton last week:

More than 600 protesters greeted President George W. Bush when he visited the St. Louis area on Wednesday, June 28, as Senator Jim Talent's special guest at a $2,000 per plate fundraising dinner at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Clayton.

The protests were organized by Missouri Pro Vote, Missouri AFL-CIO, SEIU State Council, Jobs with Justice, Military Families Speak Out, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Veterans for Peace, Instead of War, MoveOn.org, and other progressive partners.

The crowd called for an end to the Iraq war and occupation, and for raising the minimum wage.
* A low minimum wage leads to an economic military draft.
* Record war expenses cause cuts in public services.
* Military spending creates fewer living wage jobs.
* War creates a political climate of fear and economic desperation.

For good footage, on Channel 4, of the protests, including an eloquent interview with Iraq war vet Cloy Richards, click here, then click on the video link "Watch John Mills Report".
